Sound as text.
Including closed captioning in a program provides many useful benefits.
The text is encoded into the video signal, and can be viewed with
most modern television sets.
Besides assisting hearing impaired viewers, it is also useful for
situations where hearing audio is not possible or permitted. Captioned
text also doubles as a built-in transcript that can be printed and
indexed.
Classic transcribes the audio, synchronizes the text with the action,
and then encodes it directly to tape. The result is a captioned
master ready for broadcast or duplication.
